The Building for Women is a home for organizations and activities which promote the safety, dignity and empowerment of women and others in our region. Our mission is to provide safe, accessible and affordable space in which organizations and individuals, serving primarily women, can grow and thrive. Our goal is to support the women of this region by enhancing the long-term financial stability of the organizations that serve them. The Building for Women serves more than 30,000 women, children and men from northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan and from western Ontario each year. It is a local and regional model for cooperative capital efforts, shared resources and coordinated service delivery.

In 1993, a vision for a multi-purpose facility emerged from a coalition of 23 women's organizations and three interested community representatives.

"It was, and still is, without doubt, one of the most controversial building projects in Duluth’s history."

Connect with agencies, services, support and social groups.

Aurora, a Northland Lesbian Center, and the Northcountry Women's Coffeehouse regularly sponsor social events at The Building for Women. The Building for Women hosts community gatherings, fundraisers, political action groups, and professional conferences. Building agencies work together to best serve the needs of women in the community. The Building for Women is a community in itself with agencies that cosponsor events, share services, and provide referrals to one another, utilizing and maximizing each other's resources.

SERVICES!

Resources to help women, in a safe, supportive atmosphere.

The Building for Women provides affordable, accessible office, meeting, and conference space to non-profit/not-for-profit organizations which primarily serve women and children. It provides a centrally located accessible space to accommodate a variety of needs including clinic facilities, office space, meeting and conference rooms and low cost space for fledgling and small organizations. It provides space for all the needs envisioned and functions as a gathering place for art, entertainment and spiritual events. To inquire about space call 727-3352. View our current list of tenants!

EVENTS!

Join us for fun events for Women and the Public.
